1989
Wide format scanning and printing technology
Perimeter began in the imaging business by providing wide format hardware and software solutions to industry for the digitization and sharing of engineering drawings, plans and maps through fax technology. Seeing a need in the military market to move and share trace information, Perimeter developed the MilTrace system which was a robust wide format scanning and printing system that could be used in the field, transported and was rugged enough to survive the rigors of the battlefield. These systems were deployed with the Canadian Army – Maps & Charting, CFB Kingston, CECOM – U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and saw Service is Bosnia.

1995
Wide format technology in a service bureau environment
Perimeter secured our first contract in 1995 with Sunoco Inc to digitize over 50,000 engineering drawings at their refinery in Sarnia, Ontario. Perimeter went on site for two months and converted all the drawings to TIFF and PDF for upload to their in-house DM solution. The project provided significant cost savings to the company by allowing electronic access to the drawings versus physically having to drive to a plan room, copy them and then drive back to a location in the plant that spanned hundreds of acres. Perimeter then offered our expertise and capabilities to all walls of industry including Oil and Gas, Universities, Colleges, Manufacturing, Mining, Legal to name a few.

Perimeter mines new data
Perimeter was chosen by Barrick Gold Corporation North America in 2018 to take on the challenges of converting over 1,500 bankers’ boxes of one-of-a-kind Exploration documents to searchable, digital information at a high resolution. Perimeter managed the project from start to finish including developing the standards for the project and deliverables and executing on all facets of the process through to completed data. Working for the team in Elko, NV and their Gold strike properties, Perimeter successfully completed this project for Barrick to the highest standards with a 100% data acceptance rate. Insuring the Future
Perimeter took on two significant projects during this period. We digitized over 4 million claims documents for Unica Insurance to eliminate the need for storage of these files on their premises. We were also awarded the contract to digitize the large working and historical archive of the (RCDSO) Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.
The 2020 Covid pandemic has accelerated the need for digitization so organizations can communicate with their people remotely in a timely and efficient manner. Perimeter Group continues to help in this transition and will strive to make a positive impact, servicing our valued clients in the years to come.
